The Quarry Resort - historic residence Palazzo Zicari, is located in the heart of the Sassi di Matera and is one of the most representative buildings of Civita, overlooking the Sasso Caveoso. The original structure, formed solely by caves, dates back several centuries B.C., while the constructed part dates from 1500 A.D., a historical moment when noble families, the ruling class, and the clergy settled precisely in that area around the Cathedral. The typical stone of the area, "tuff," characterizes the building, making it ethereal and timeless. Timeless, frozen between the past and the present, are the hypogeums, the chapel, the four rooms, the four suites, and the four junior suites, the lounge bar with a panoramic terrace, from where one can admire the historic-natural archaeological park of Murgia Materana, as well as the Church of Santa Maria di Idris and Piazza San Pietro Caveoso.
